1. How to get a card
You need to be a Rhode Island resident and show proof of residence and identity (a driver’s license with your current address will do). Minors under 18 need parental permission to get a card. Their parent or guardian needs to sign their application in person.
2. Will my information remain confidential?
Yes. Once it is entered into our system, authorized personnel only view this information
3. I live in a nearby state. May I get a card?
Yes, if you work in RI or own property and pay real estate taxes in RI you are eligible for a library card at no charge. All other out of state residents must pay a fee of $83.88 annually to use the resources of this library, the computers and databases for research and checkout materials. A fee of $115.00 annually will allow the use of all the resources of the OSL system.
4. I am visiting from abroad, from a distant state or am a student at a nearby college. Can I use the computers in the NS library to access the Internet?
Yes. We require that you read and accept the rules governing the use of the computers..
